[Reporter Wang Rongxiang/Kaohsiung Report] The design of the reconstruction project of the last land bridge and Jiuru Bridge after the Kaohsiung Railway went underground is scheduled to be demolished by the end of this year during the non-flood season, and the reconstruction of flat roads and bridges will continue. It is expected to be completed and open to traffic in 2026 .

The Jiuru Bridge in Kaohsiung is located in the lower reaches of the Love River. It was built in 1976. When it was built, it crossed the Love River and the railway at the same time. Not only was the bridge project elevated, but the huge structure spanned it. The bridge (including the approach road) was 624 meters long. In recent years, After the undergrounding of the railway, the construction of the Green Parkway and the light rail have been completed, the skyline has been significantly damaged, and the development of the Zhongdu and Neiwei areas has also been hindered.

Considering that the age of the bridge has reached the design limit, and that the damage of the bridge has reached the U3 level as assessed by the Association of Civil Engineers and Structural Engineers, it is recommended that the city government rebuild it as a whole. Under the circumstances, in January this year, the Ministry of the Interior subsidized a total of 460 million yuan for reconstruction (360 million yuan from the central government and 100 million yuan raised by the local government).

In addition, the Ministry of Communications subsidized 90 million yuan for the demolition funds. With the cooperation of the city government and the council, the budget process was completed in February, and the bidding for the entrusted design supervision and manufacturing labor service of the Jiuru Bridge reconstruction project was successfully completed a few days ago, and the design work was started.

According to the Public Works Bureau, the reconstructed Jiuru Bridge only crosses the Love River, about 70 meters long and 30 meters wide. The Yidong Road is 30 meters wide, and it is coordinated with the adjustment of the front and rear sections of the road, which can stitch the urban texture and accelerate the development of the Gushan District along the Love River and the Sanminzhongdu area.

According to the Xingong Office, the reconstruction of Jiuru Bridge is scheduled to be carried out at the end of this year during the non-flood season to carry out the demolition of the old bridge, and then to restore the level roads and bridge reconstruction. It is expected to be completed and open to traffic in 2026.
