In Uman, Cherkasy region, a native of the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation, who had Ukrainian citizenship, was sentenced to a suspended prison term.

The man was subject to mobilization, but refused to defend Ukraine. 

This is stated in the verdict of the Uman City District Court of the Cherkasy Region. 

According to the court, a native of the Russian Federation who had Ukrainian citizenship received a summons on January 18, 2023 and passed a medical examination.

He was supposed to come to the Military Commissariat the next day.

The man packed his things and informed his relatives about the mobilization, but he never came to the collection point. 

At the trial, the evader admitted guilt and stated that "an inner conviction that does not allow him to pick up a weapon and kill." 

The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 3 years of imprisonment, replacing the real term with 2 years of probation. 

It will be recalled that a resident of the village of Vorona, in the Kovel district of the Volyn region, lashed out with abuse at the Military Commissariat employees who handed him a summons at a public transport stop.
