The Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation named the official cause of the explosion and fire that engulfed the buildings of the FSB Border Office in the Rostov region on Thursday, March 16. 

As reported by Russian Telegram channels with reference to the official statement of the FSB, the incident occurred as a result of fuel and lubricant materials catching fire in the garage.

"At 12:20 p.m. (that is, at 11:20 a.m. Kyiv time —

) in the repair workshop of the garage box of the FSB unit of the Russian FSB in the Rostov region, fuel and lubricants caught fire, which caused an explosion and partial destruction of the building," the message reads.

The Russian special service confirmed that as a result of the NP in Rostov-on-Don there are victims.

Earlier, the governor of the Rostov region reported that, according to preliminary information, the root cause was a short circuit of the electrical wiring.

The spark ignited the flame, the fire spread and caused the explosion of containers with fuel and lubricant materials. 

The fire spread over an area of ​​800 square meters, as a result of which two walls collapsed.

According to TASS, one person died, two others were injured.

As previously reported, the building of the FSB Border Service Directorate caught fire in Rostov-on-Don, Russia.

An explosion was heard before the incident.
