"First of all, literally in the next few days, we will deliver four fighter jets to Ukraine in full working order," Duda said.

According to him, the rest of the Soviet-made fighters will be checked and they are currently being prepared and will be delivered later.

Poland's president has announced that his country plans to give Ukraine a dozen MiG-29 fighter jets, becoming the first NATO member to meet the Ukrainian government's increasingly urgent demands for fighter jets.

Duda did not specify whether other countries would take the same step, although Slovakia has previously said it may send its unused MiG fighter jets to Ukraine.

While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is appealing to his Western backers to help with fighter jets, NATO allies are wary of this, the Associated Press noted, cited by BTA.
