A meeting was held today at the office of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AGF).

According to the information provided by the federation to apasport.az website, Namig Abdullayev left the position of head coach as a member of the AGF Executive Committee due to the increase in the workload, the implementation of projects for the development of wrestling in the regions and the fulfillment of the coordinating function in the direction of the progress of freestyle wrestling in Azerbaijan.

Khetag Gazyumov, a former member of the national team, was appointed to this position.

The AGF management thanked the Olympic champion, who has been serving as head coach since September 2020, for his services and achievements and wished him success in his work as a person responsible for freestyle wrestling in the Executive Committee.

The position of head coach of the women's wrestling national team has also been changed.

Semyon Shterev, who previously coached our freestyle and women's wrestling teams, was introduced to the team as the head coach by AGF vice-president Namig Aliyev.

He replaced Rovshan Umudov, who has been acting head coach since October 2021, in this post.

AGF's cooperation with the specialist will continue.
