The owner of the private military company "Wagner" Yevgeny Prigozhin lost the "first round" of the battle with the Russian political elite.

Now he will be returned to Africa to protect Putin's interests, and after a few years they can simply be "removed".

This opinion was expressed by the Russian human rights activist, head of the "Sitting Russia" foundation, Olga Romanova, FREEDOM informs.

According to her, Russian society liked Prigozhin's recruitment of convicts for the war against Ukraine.

However, conflicts with the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, ended in a loss for him.

However, Romanova does not rule out that Prigozhin has not yet lost the chance to regain his position, because the mobilization of prisoners by the Russian Ministry of Defense turned out to be a failure.

"Prisoners are a specific contingent, Prigozhin knows how to work with them, but the Ministry of Defense does not know how to do this... Now the prisoners are running away, they are trying to catch them and send them to the ITT (temporary detention facility).

The ITT in Donetsk is already completely filled with such soldiers.

I think this, unfortunately, gives Prigozhin another chance to return to the military arena, but I hope that the strife in the Russian so-called elite will prevent him from doing so.

All the same, this elite will prefer the decision: let everything fall apart, so that there is no Prigozhin," the human rights activist suggests.

In her opinion, for the time being, Prigozhin will be sent to Africa again, where there are already representatives of his PMC.

Eventually, the oligarch will be killed, believes the head of the "Sitting Russia" foundation.

"If there is no drastic change in the situation, he will be returned to Africa.

But to be honest, I would bet that in a year he will not be alive.

Get poisoned by mushrooms or get blown up on a mine, or have a flat tire on your car.

I think it's about that.

He has quarreled so much with the entire elite that sooner or later she will get tired of inventing tricks against Prigozhin, and she will act as she usually does," Romanova concluded.

Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the conflict between Prigozhin and Shoigu had reached its climax.

According to the information of the reserve major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military expert Oleksiy Hetman, earlier the number of "Wagners" could reach 45,000, but now there are about 7,000 of them left.

The rest were destroyed by Ukrainian defenders.

According to the spokesman of the Eastern Group, Serhiy Cherevaty, the inglorious history of the "Wagners" will end in Bakhmut, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed most of the mercenaries.
