"Like many people in our profession, my husband (Olexii Khilskyi, theater and film actor - author's note) and I lost our jobs.

Oleksiy joined the ranks of the Armed Forces without hesitation and has been on the front lines almost all the time since the beginning of the war."

"For the first two months, my daughter and I stayed in Chernivtsi.

I couldn't find a place for myself.

Something had to be done.

We returned to Kyiv, and I decided to try working in a coffee shop near our house."

The profession of a barista, a specialist in coffee preparation, is quite young - it is only 50 years old.

It appeared in Ukraine not so long ago.

"I didn't know how to make coffee.

But she dared, came to the interview, went through practice for several days for six hours, passed the exam and got to work, - says Nadiya.

- In addition to the fact that I have to know everything about coffee, its varieties, methods of roasting, choose the right grain grind and work with equipment, I also have to understand the cafe's confectionery assortment: the composition of all cakes and confectionery products.

I'm lucky that there are two of us working, so the girls-partners helped a lot in the beginning."

Recently, Oleksiy Khilsky came home for treatment from Bakhmut and has already returned to the front line.

They and Nadia are convinced that after the Victory, their profession will be in demand again, and they dream of returning to it.

"I really want to do my favorite thing again," shares Nadiya.

- Little by little, job offers are appearing: recently I was offered to play in an enterprise, but I refused because I cannot travel far from home.

I'm just scared for my daughter.

I feel comfortable in the coffee shop, because when there are air alarms, shelling, I run to it.

I like it here: I imagine that I am the heroine of some movie, who works in such an institution.

I like to see people, it's a sleepy area and the same people come, you know almost everything about everyone, like a bartender in a night club.

I am not ashamed to wash the floor and the toilet here.

Because now there are such challenges - we need to work and raise the country's economy.

Thanks to this work, I have the opportunity to constantly contribute to the Armed Forces."

The war made adjustments to the labor market, it is not homogeneous both by region and by industry.

Most of the production and enterprises in the occupied territories or in the war zone have stopped.

Certain industries, on the contrary, are developing.

So, in particular, electronics supermarket chains reached pre-war sales levels four months ago.

"The demand for certain professions is currently the same as before the war.

There are those that are more than there is demand for them, and there are those that are in short supply.

If we are talking about lawyers, accountants, financiers, there are more of them than there are vacancies, as in the last 5-6 years.

There was a shortage of sales managers, but now the situation has improved.

The IT field is in high demand.

There is a huge shortage of energy workers, engineers and technical specialists," explains Alyona Kavka, HRD KNESS, HR media expert.

Many Ukrainian men will not return from the war.

So, experts say that women should master certain professions that were previously considered men's.

"It can be a taxi driver, public transport driver, a truck driver, a gas station attendant, a watchman, a locksmith, a security guard.

These professions are already given to women," says Alyona Kavka.

After the Victory, the employment situation should improve significantly, no profession will be superfluous, professionals will be in demand everywhere.

Andriy Dligach, doctor of economics, professor at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, is convinced of this: "Even with the rapid development of modern technologies and artificial intelligence, it is impossible to say that there will be no need for lawyers or accountants in post-war Ukraine.

The very essence of professions will change.

People who know how to build will be needed - not only builders, but also those who know how to organize the process: designers, logisticians;

those who are engaged in decoration, who manufacture building materials - various highly qualified specialists.

Not only technologists who will be able to restore agribusiness, not only specialists in the food industry, but also people

"There will be demand for absolutely all professions, because businesses will be rebuilt.

It is important that the business remains in Ukraine.

There will be a request for middle management and managers.

Great demand is expected for technical specialties, IT specialists.

Scientists will be greatly needed: developers, chemists, physicists, electronics engineers.

And since we already have a professional army, the military will definitely become a separate field of specialties: military lawyers, doctors, psychologists, rehabilitators," says Alyona Kavka.

Post-war Ukraine will need many military rehabilitation specialists.

"We must have our own high-quality prosthetics and updated medicine.

Many boys are already without limbs, they lost a part of themselves while defending the Motherland.

In the process of adaptation and rehabilitation, many specialists should be involved - doctors and psychologists: everyone will need both preventive and curative work.

Educational platforms must be created for our veterans, and employers must provide them with jobs so that they feel like a desirable part of the labor market.

An extensive military support network requires a large pool of psychologists.

It is necessary to understand that they are not prepared in a few months: it must be a fundamental education, it takes time", - convinced Tetyana Pashkina, an expert in personnel selection.

Already now, the Ministry of Education and Science offers online courses where you can learn promising professions for free: construction woodworker, lighting electrician, cook, hotel and restaurant service master, bricklayer, locksmith, turner, agricultural tractor-machinist, tourism agent, and others .

The duration of the courses is from 10 months to a year and a half.

"If now there is an oversaturation of certain specialists in a certain field, then it is temporary.

After the Victory, there will be a shortage of specialists in every field.

We need to become professionals, because the demand for Ukrainians will be very high," Andriy Dligach assures.

"I am sure that the tourism industry will be in great demand: there will be great interest in what Ukraine is like, and therefore demand for travel agents, translators, tour guides, hotel and restaurant workers," says Tetyana Pashkina.

Post-war Ukraine will need educators: lecturers and teachers, developers of new educational programs.

"Many children went abroad and saw new learning methods there.

When they return, not everyone will be interested in sitting for 45 minutes and raising their hand at the wave of the teacher's finger.

An updated educational base and requalified teachers are needed so that children and their parents do not return to the place where they are taught better," Tetyana Pashkina is sure.

Any Ukrainian will need knowledge of a foreign language - both in the service and in the industrial spheres.

This immediately increases the cost of the specialist.

"People who know how to work with international organizations will be needed to receive grants and distribute them.

Specialists in grant financing, because the main sector of the economy will be the grant financing of the European Union and other countries.

Tender procurement specialists, because more platforms will appear: not only Prozorro, but also European platforms.

The more competent specialists are, the better financial management will be, and this is important for Ukraine in the near future," Andrii Dligach is convinced.

So, what should be considered when choosing a future profession?

Specialists advise using numerous online courses to familiarize yourself with the specifics of the job and understand whether it is suitable for you.

"The world is moving forward quickly, it is impossible to sit on the baggage of knowledge until retirement.

Now there are many different platforms that offer courses in foreign languages, mathematics, psychology, and family budget planning.

From anything - there would be desire, inspiration and understanding, why do you need it.

They are paid and free.

There it is quite possible to familiarize yourself with the methods and understand whether you are interested in it or not," says Tetyana Pashkina.

"Do not consider your profession a sentence for life - you can and should change your profession from time to time.

But for this you have to constantly study.

Do not look at who is in demand now, because in a few years the demand may change.

Choose a profession according to your own calling, because that's the only way you can become a professional.

And there is a shortage of professionals in any field," Andrii Dligach assures.

You can find temporary work to earn money, but you will be satisfied and in demand only if you like the work.

"Only the work of your heart gives strength, inspires and develops.

Think about what you dreamed of as a child, what you like to do at home.

Maybe it will tell you where to go," advises Alyona Kavka.

"Age is not an obstacle for changing professions.

You must like the work.

Because there is nothing worse if you spend your time at work like in a penal colony.

This is terrible.

Do not be afraid of new challenges and tests.

You can find excitement in any job, but if you don't like the job, you should definitely not do it, you have to look for something else and move on," Nadiya Khilska is convinced.
