Yevhen Dykiy, a veteran of the "Aidar" battalion, calls it a difficult but correct decision for the Armed Forces to stay in Bakhmut, Donetsk region, and continue to defend it.

The Russians are actually sending their troops to the city to be slaughtered.

This opinion was expressed by the ex-commander of "Aidaru" on the air of the TV channel FREEDOM.

According to him, more and more Russian units are becoming incapacitated after the battles for Bakhmut, and that is why they are no longer supporting the offensive in other areas of the front.

"All of them are connected by this one small center of Bakhmut. When the time comes for our counteroffensive, it is not a fact that the units that passed through Bakhmut will be able to hold even a normal defense. That is, it is such a terrible meat grinder, but in which the enemy loses much more than us," says Dykiy.

Dykiy stresses that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not surrendering Bakhmut, in particular, from a humanitarian point of view.

After all, during the battles, the city was practically wiped off the face of the earth. However, there are Siversk, Slovyansk, Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka further on.

"For now, these are entire cities, entire infrastructures. There is a civilian population there. If we surrender Bakhmut, and I do not rule out that, unfortunately, it may still become a necessity at some point. From a military point of view, not much will change. We we will simply withdraw to the next line of defense, which has been ready for a long time, and it will not be a collapse of the front, not a breakthrough of the front. But from the humanitarian side, four cities from the rear will become the same front line as Bakhmut is now," said Yevgeny Dykiy.

Battles for Bakhmut

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that

the situation in the east remains very difficult.

The president especially noted Bilogorivka, Maryinka, Avdiivka, Bakhmut, Vugledar and Kamianka.

He emphasized that there "it is decided what our future will be."

Veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, reserve major of the Armed Forces Oleksiy Hetman says that

Bakhmut is very important for the occupier.

After all, the enemy's troops are now trying to concentrate all their efforts in order to lay a "land corridor" between Russia and the Crimean peninsula, to make this strip wider.

According to the commander of the ground forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi

, the Russian "Wagner" assault units are advancing from several directions,

trying to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian troops and advance to the central areas of the city.

The DPSU emphasizes that they continue to courageously keep the city under their control.

Ukrainian troops are fighting fierce battles with the Russian occupying forces

for the fortress city of Bakhmut.
