In Moldova, pro-Russian forces protested in the center of Chisinau.

There were rally-goers, mostly of retirement age, who took with them posters criticizing the current government and Orthodox icons.

They were joined by the "Shor" party, known sympathizers of Russia.

One gets the impression that Russia is trying to destabilize the situation wherever possible.

In an exclusive interview with TSN.ua, Oleksandr Musienko, the head of the Center for Military and Legal Research, told what the real threat is from the side of Moldova at the moment.

"Russia was hatching plans to destabilize the coup d'état - something that the Ukrainian president and Moldovan intelligence officers talked about and warned about, for which they were very grateful. Moldova in previous years was always comfortable for Russia in terms of the fact that the communists won there and they were in power. The Communist Party was always oriented in one way or another towards Russia. After all, they actively traded. Now there are no such opportunities, because the border is closed," says Musienko.

According to him, President Maia Sandu and the new government, which declare their intention to join the EU and move towards rapprochement with NATO, are very much disliked by the Kremlin.

"And the Kremlin does not like the fact that Moldova is not so inclined to cooperate with Russia for obvious reasons. This threatens the Russian contingent in unrecognized Transnistria. That is why they started destabilizing actions there and holding pro-Russian rallies by pro-Russian organizations with the aim of overthrowing the state order in Moldova. It doesn't work. Although they continue to do it again," explains Musienko.

Threat from Transnistria

According to the expert, the Russian contingent in Transnistria does not pose a great threat to Ukraine, because there are not a large number of troops there.

In addition, these troops are deprived of a land border with Russia and the possibility of delivering goods there.

"The airspace over the EU countries is closed, you cannot fly over Romania. And on the territory of Ukraine, back in April-May of last year, there was a decision to shoot down military transport planes that would fly there. In many ways, the Russians' plans are thwarted. The EU declares its intention to strengthen Moldova, to help. In an interview for Western media, Volodymyr Zelensky also said that Ukraine will be ready to help Moldova if it makes an official request," concluded Oleksandr Musienko.

Rallies in Moldova: why Russia is behind it

We will remind you that today, March 13, pro-Russian forces staged protests again in Moldova.

Previously, the new Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Rechan stated that the unrecognized Transnistria should be demilitarized, and the Russian contingent should be expelled from there.

He also said that the Russian Federation allegedly planned to seize the airport in Chisinau in order to transfer its troops there.

The Kremlin threatened Moldova because of such a loud statement of the prime minister.

In early February, the President of Moldova, Maya Sandu, announced Russia's plans to stage a coup d'état in Chisinau.

Political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko explained that the head of the Kremlin, Volodymyr Putin, wants to destabilize the political situation in Moldova in order to ignite a new conflict in the neighborhood with Ukraine and disperse the help of Western partners.
