"AzerGold" CJSC geological exploration group has completed the first stage of geological exploration works in the field of "Tutxun" noble metal manifestations, which is located in Kalbajar district and has a total area of 85.56 km2, which is included in the administrative territory of East Zangezur economic region.

"APA-Economics" reports with reference to the information released by the agency that in the 8.29 km2 area cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance by the Mine Clearance Agency (ANAMA), including Bashlibel-Khanlanli, Oruclu-Agyataq-Chorman areas, June-December 2022 During the months, active ground search and reconnaissance works were carried out.

The resulting test samples were sent to an international laboratory for analysis in order to determine their element composition.

It should be noted that it is impossible to continue the geological exploration works in the "Tutxun" field because the said areas were contaminated with mines by Armenia during the 30-year occupation.

Negotiations on obtaining maps of mined areas are delayed due to Armenia's destructive position on this issue.

For this reason, search and reconnaissance works are carried out only in areas cleared of mines.

In order to continue the work in 2023, another 45.5 km2 area will be cleared of mines by ANAMA and will be given to the geological staff of "AzerGold" CJSC to continue field research.

"AzerGold" JSC uses innovative prospecting methods to partially compensate for the loss of time required for clearing land from mines.

In this regard, in 2022, non-invasive hyperspectral satellite images were captured for the first time in the Caucasus region in an area of 1624 km2, covering not only Kalbajar region, but also a part of Lachin region, and this process is being continued during the current year.

It should be noted that the "Tutxun" area is located in the territory of Kalbajar district, in the basin of the Tutxun river, which is the right branch of Tartarchay.

Based on the results of research and digitization of geological materials from 1958-1990, it is predicted that there is gold, silver and partially industrially important copper metallization in the area.
