The Patriot complex can shoot down not only ballistic missiles, but also Russian aircraft at a distance of up to 150 kilometers.

On March 11, the spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, said this on the air of the telethon.

According to him, Ukraine does not yet have long-range anti-aircraft systems.

We are armed with the Buk-M1 complex, which has a range of up to 40 kilometers, and the S-300 has a range of 70 kilometers.

Instead, the Patriot complex can reach targets at a distance of 150 kilometers.

SAMP/T, which Ukraine will also soon receive from partners, has such a range.

"First of all, this will help to shoot down not only ballistic missiles, but also to oppose Russian aviation at long distances," Ignat noted.

The spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that the Russian Federation uses aviation in the front-line zones in the north and south of Ukraine.

It is used to strike with missiles and barrage guided aerial bombs.

Aviation flies to a distance of 30-40, 50-60 kilometers to the borders of Ukraine and drops such bombs.

The presence of Patriot or SAMP/T complexes will be able to drive away enemy aircraft from the borders of Ukraine.

Ignat added that it is about the destruction of planes in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

These complexes are planned to be placed so that they cover the critical infrastructure of Ukraine and the positions of the Armed Forces.

It will be recalled that earlier the Financial Times reported that Ukraine received the first Patriot anti-missile defense system promised by the USA and Germany.

However, so far, the anti-missile defense system has allegedly not been put into operation.

However, later the spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat denied such information.

According to him, Ukrainians will learn about the Patriot when the Air Force reports the first plane shot down by the anti-missile defense system.
