[Reporter Zhang Xuanzhe/Taichung Report] The current building of the Shigang Branch of the Taichung City Fire Department was formerly the Shigang branch during the Japanese occupation period. It has a history of 82 years and has been listed as a historical building.

The city government has prepared a budget of nearly 100 million yuan for the relocation and construction of new office buildings, and the ground was broken last month.

How to revitalize the old buildings has also attracted much attention. Since it is adjacent to the Dongfeng Green Corridor, many people expect to be transformed into Wenqing cafes and restaurants or small cultural relics museums to drive local tourism.

The headquarters of the Shigang Fire Brigade is a baroque building with an elegant appearance. It is known as the oldest existing fire brigade in Taichung City, and it often attracts architecture fans to take pictures.

The Shigang Fire Brigade Office was the Shigang branch during the Japanese occupation period. During the September 21 earthquake, the wall in front, the old clinic, and the office collapsed. It was rebuilt in 2001 and listed as a historical building.

This building is adjacent to Dongfeng Green Corridor, and there are few cafes and restaurants in Shigang. Local residents expect it to be revitalized.
