419 congressmen voted in favor of the proposal, and none against.

Debates had previously been brief, with everyone agreeing that Americans want answers to the question of where the deadly virus pandemic began and what can be done to prevent similar outbreaks in the future.

The declassification decision focused on intelligence related to the Institute of Virology in the Chinese city of Wuhan, citing "potential links" between research conducted there and the outbreak of the COVID-19 outbreak, which the World Health Organization has declared a pandemic on March 11, 2020

FBI: Cause of COVID-19 pandemic 'highly likely' to be lab accident in China

US intelligence agencies are divided over whether a laboratory leak or animals are the likely source of the deadly virus.

Experts say the true origins of the coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 1 million Americans may not be known for years, or even ever.

A similar decision has already been adopted by the Senate of the Congress.

It now has to be signed by the US president to become law.

If this is done, declassification must take place within 90 days.

Any or all information related to potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the source of the coronavirus disease must be declassified.

This also includes information about the research and other activities carried out there and whether any of the researchers have fallen ill.
