Why you can't wash raw meat and why it is dangerous

Raw meat, poultry, fish, eggs may contain harmful bacteria (Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter and E. coli, etc.).

Therefore, anything these products touch can also become infected with these bacteria.

Even if you decide to wash the meat under the tap, splashing water can transfer disease-causing bacteria into the sink.

That is why packaged raw meat cannot be washed, as this can increase the likelihood of food poisoning.

Moreover, any surfaces that come into contact with raw meat can later harbor harmful bacteria.

Therefore, after cutting the product, it is recommended to wash them thoroughly with hot water and soap, and then dry them with a paper towel.

Do not forget to wash your hands well after working with raw meat, spending at least 20 seconds on the whole process.

Is it necessary to wash raw meat before freezing?

According to the nutritionist, it is better not to do this.

After all, this increases the risk of cross-contamination.

When the meat is thawed, cooking it on the fire will still kill all the bacteria.

What to do if you need to wash the meat because it is in the sand?

Only in this case it is possible to wash the meat and it must be done according to certain rules.

First, water is collected in a separate basin, a piece of meat is placed there.

At the same time, you need to wash it away from the sink.

Soaking raw meat in salt, lemon juice, soda, salting the product does not affect bacteria in any way.

But it is better to use a separate container and keep it in the refrigerator under a closed lid.

How to store raw meat safely

It is recommended to carry raw meat, eggs, poultry, fish in separate bags from other products.

You also need to store them in the refrigerator only separately, using a container, so that the juices do not seep.

For raw and ready-made products, vegetables, fruits, it is better to use different cutting boards.
