Holika Dahan 2023:

Holi festival is celebrated every year in the month of Phalgun.

Holi is a festival of two days and both the days have special religious significance.

Holika is lit on the evening of Holika Dahan.

According to mythology, Holika was the sister of King Hiranyakashyap.

Hiranyakashyap had planned to kill his son Prahlad and because of his evil intention, he asked his sister Holika to kill Prahlad by sitting in the fire.

Holika had a boon that she would not burst into flames.

But, Prahlad's devotion did not allow him to even get caught in the fire and by the grace of Lord Vishnu, Prahlad was saved and Holika died.

From this day the tradition of burning Holika started.

But, the actual date of Holika Dahan is March 7 only.

According to the Panchang, Holika Dahan will be done on the evening of March 7.

The auspicious time for Holika Dahan will be from 6.12 pm to 8.39 pm on Tuesday, March 7.

Burning Holika in this Muhurta is considered very auspicious.

The doubt of Bhadra's shadow was also being told regarding Holika Dahan.

It is believed that if there is a shadow of Bhadra on Holi, then it is very inauspicious to burn Holika in this Muhurta.

Due to this, Bhadra casts a bad shadow on the native's family and there can be difficulties in life.

However, this year there is no shadow of Bhadra on Holika Dahan, due to which Holika Dahan can be done without any worry.
