Russia will seal and preserve the gas pipelines "Nord Stream 1" and "Nord Stream 2", damaged by an explosion at the end of September, Reuters reported, citing its sources, writes Trud bg.

Gazprom has already stated that it has the technical possibility to repair the pipelines.

However, two Reuters sources familiar with the plans have revealed that Moscow does not see much prospect of improving relations with the West in the foreseeable future so that it resumes gas transfers to Europe.

One of the agency's sources stated that Russia "buried" the project.

However, according to two others, there are no plans yet to repair the pipelines, but they will be preserved for possible reopening in the future.

Russia calls for international investigation into Nord Stream gas pipeline explosions

In the process of conservation, the ends of the pipes ruptured in the explosions will be sealed and sealed.

They will be given a special coating to prevent further corrosion from seawater.

Russia called on the UN Security Council to assist in conducting an independent investigation into the explosions. For Russia, the explosions of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines are an act of international terrorism, it said at the end of February, at a meeting of the Security Council security, the permanent representative of the Russian Federation Vasily Nebenzya.

"As many of you remember, even then (in September last year) it was basically clear who could be behind this act of international terrorism. For us, this is exactly what happened," Nebenzya pointed out.
