[International News Center/Comprehensive Report] The V-Dem (Varieties of Democracy) project, a transnational academic survey hosted by the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, released the Global Democracy Report. The democratic progress made in the past year has been wiped out.

In the democratization study of 179 countries and regions covered by the report, China is the most populous closed autocratic country, ranking 8th from the bottom, while Taiwan ranks 30th, one of the most democratic countries in Asia.

According to a report on the "China Digital Times" website on the 4th, the report divides countries into liberal democracies (Liberal Democracies), electoral democracies (Electoral Democracies), electoral autocracies (Electoral Autocracies) and Four types including Closed Autocracies, pointing out that 72% of the world's population, or 5.7 billion people, live in authoritarian countries, much higher than the 1 billion people in democratic countries (accounting for 13%). 46% surge.

The United States ranks 23rd, Taiwan ranks 30th, and Japan (27th) and South Korea (28th) rank among the top three in Asia.

After the implementation of the "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law", the degree of democracy in Hong Kong has fallen to the ranks of closed autocracy, ranking 139th.

China ranks eighth from the bottom, after Myanmar, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Belarus.
