Today is the memorial day of Muhammad Amin Rasulzadeh, one of the founders of the first democratic republic in the East - Azerbaijan People's Republic.

According to APA, Muhammad Amin Rasulzadeh was born on January 31, 1884 in Novkhani village of Baku.

In his youth, he participated in the establishment of the "Hummet" organization together with social democrats.

Rasulzadeh, who emigrated to Iran in 1909 after being persecuted by Tsarism, worked there for a while as the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Irane-nou", and emigrated to Turkey after the Mashrutah revolution was suppressed.

He was accepted as a member of the Musavat Party in 1911, and 4 years later he was elected the chairman of the Central Committee of the Musavat Party.

In 1918, together with Fatali Khan Khoyski and others, he officially announced the establishment of the first republic in the East.

On November 22, 2013, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev issued an order on holding the 130th anniversary of Mohammad Amin Rasulzadeh.

According to the order, a series of jubilee events were held in the republic and outside the republic.

Also, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan People's Republic, President Ilham Aliyev declared 2018 as the "Year of the Republic".
