The member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister,

Manuel Marrero Cruz, received the Hon.

Mr. Chua Kee Lock, Ambassador of Singapore in Cuba.

During the friendly meeting at the Palace of the Revolution, the Cuban Head of Government recalled his productive transit visit to Singapore in October 2022, as part of a tour of Asia, on which occasion he was received by the Singaporean Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Long.

The fluid exchange of visits between both nations, assured Marrero Cruz, is an expression of the attention and priority that we give to our bilateral ties.

He also highlighted the progress that bilateral cooperation has experienced in sectors such as tourism, biotechnology and port administration.

In another order, he highlighted the agreement and mutual support in international forums, while thanking Singapore for the position in favor of the Cuban resolution against the blockade, not only nationally, but also on behalf of ASEAN.

The projection of the Cuban presidency of the G77 plus China was also part of the sustained dialogue.

For his part,

the Singaporean ambassador referred to the coincidences that unite the two countries, despite the geographical distance, and described bilateral relations as excellent.

He also stressed that there is potential to continue working together in various areas of mutual interest.

Diplomatic relations between Cuba and Singapore were established on April 18, 1997. Both nations have promoted close ties of friendship and cooperation.
