[Reporter Liu Yuqing/Penghu Report] The winner of the 31st Medical Dedication Award, Huimin Hospital monk Han Guogan, will soon go to work in the long-term institution of St. Joseph Community, Nanao Township, Yilan County. Penghu County Mayor Chen Guangfu went to Huimin Hospital to present an honorary county citizen certificate , Thanks to Han Hangan for dedicating his youth to Penghu Medical.

Chen Guangfu said that in 1985, Korean dry monks were inspired by the bearded father-in-law, Dr. He Yishi, who selflessly took care of vulnerable patients. He left his hometown of Pingtung and came to serve in Penghu, an outlying island. In the blink of an eye, he has contributed to Penghu for more than 30 years. He came from a small fishing village in Hengchun, Pingtung. He was weak and sick since he was a child, and he often reported to the hospital. Therefore, he felt the pain of patients and the hard work of medical staff. He thanked Han for his selfless dedication and contribution to rural medical care. The spirit of great love.

In 1983, Han Hangan participated in church activities and set foot on Penghu for the first time. Seeing priests and monks taking care of vulnerable patients, his heart was ignited to help the disadvantaged and strengthen his belief.

In 1985, he came to Penghu Huimin Hospital from Pingtung, and since then he has been serving patients in the hospital for more than 30 years.

Huimin Hospital has been established for 65 years. It has long cared for the health of vulnerable groups such as the elderly and the disabled in Penghu. It is currently building a long-term care medical park. However, due to the epidemic, the progress of fundraising is not as expected. Chen Guangfu appeals to the public to show love and donate actively , so that the reconstruction of Huimin Hospital can achieve its goal as soon as possible.

Han Gan has been affirmed in taking care of the disadvantaged in Penghu. In 1990, on behalf of Penghu, he was awarded the Model Respect for the Elderly by the Taiwan Provincial Government. In 2015, he won the 3rd Judao Award for Excellence. In 2021, he won the 31st Medical Contribution Award.
