New Delhi:

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday that Russia and China are the two countries that did not support the issuance of a joint statement at the G-20 foreign ministers' meeting hosted by India.

The opposition of the two countries to the mention of Russia's attack resulted in the meeting ending without a joint statement being issued, despite India's efforts to resolve the differences.

"Russia and China are the only countries that have made it clear that they will not sign," Blinken said at a press conference. He also said that the US strongly supports India's agenda for the G-20.

Blinken said that an outcome document was adopted in the meeting, which reflected the common agreement of all the foreign ministers on various subjects.

He said that America will continue to support Ukraine.

Referring to the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the video message at the G-20 meeting, the US Secretary of State said that he is right that there are challenges in the multilateral system.

"In many ways these challenges are coming directly from Russia, which is violating the principles that are at the heart of this system," Blinken said. Asked about the survey of income tax in BBC offices in India Blinken didn't give a straight answer.

Blinken also said that he spoke briefly with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and urged him to reverse his decision and implement the New START treaty.
