Customs officers found more than 57,000 cigarettes hidden in a cache in a passenger van at the "Danube Bridge" border checkpoint near Ruse, the customs announced. 

The minibus was stopped for inspection two days ago with a driver and companion with Bulgarian citizenship traveling to Western Europe. 

During the inspection, the customs officers discovered a cache in which 2,866 packs of cigarettes (57,320 in total) were hidden with a Bulgarian excise label without the necessary documents under the Law on Excise and Tax Warehouses. 

Two acts were drawn up for the established violations.

The last case in which customs officials confiscated tobacco products in a vehicle at the "Danube Bridge" checkpoint near Ruse was on February 22 of this year.

Then, a total of 17,680 cigarettes (844 packs) with a Bulgarian excise label were found in a car traveling to France.
