Sentenced to more than 8 years in a penal colony, journalist

Kateryna Andreeva

feels "tremendous physical and moral fatigue."

She wrote about this in one of her last letters to freedom, BAJ reports.

The BAJ monitoring service contacted

Igor Ilyash

, the husband of Ekaterina Andreeva, to find out the latest news from the police prisoner, who was punished for her professional activities.

Now she is serving the sentence of 8 years and 3 months in the correctional colony No. 4 in Goml - under the conditions of an enhanced regime:

"Katya has been behind bars for almost 2 years and 4 months.

During this time, her eyesight noticeably deteriorated - an almost inevitable problem for those who are in prison for a long time.

In addition, he feels enormous physical and moral fatigue.

"I'm on autopilot," is how she describes her physical and psychological state," Igor Ilyash said.

He adds that the last time he saw his wife was in September of last year in the pre-trial detention center - before he was transferred to the Gomel colony.

It was a standard no-contact short-term date through glass and phone.

Like most of the prisoners, Kateryna Andreeva works at a sewing factory in the colony.

A week in the first shift, a week in the second.

In addition to everything, you need to clean the premises, wash the floors, clean the snow, sort potatoes and other things.

According to Igor Ilyash, while Katya was in the pre-trial detention center, she read a lot.

But there is very little free time in the colony.

From the last read -

Albert Camus'

novel "The Plague".

She wrote that now this is her favorite book, which is very consistent with her personal worldview at the moment.

When there is an opportunity and inspiration, she writes poems.

This year, Kateryna Andreeva will celebrate her 30th birthday.

Relatives do not give up hope that they will meet the anniversary together.
