Russian troops repeat their mistakes at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and again attack in columns in an attempt to capture

Vugledar.

The investigation of the catastrophic losses of the occupiers during their attempted offensive near Vugledar revealed a number of problems of the Russian army.

This is stated in the ISW report.

According to the information, during unsuccessful tank attacks, Russian troops continued to make serious mistakes and led tank columns into Ukrainian ambushes for several weeks in a row.

According to the Armed Forces, Russian forces lost at least 130 tanks and armored personnel carriers during the three-week offensive, which forced them to resort to frontal attacks using infantry.

The Ukrainian military successfully lured Russian tanks into defeat zones before immobilizing Russian convoys and directing them to mined roadsides, then finishing off the vehicles with barrel artillery and HIMARS.

The Russian units deployed in the Vugledar area, primarily the 155th Marine Brigade, are largely staffed by poorly trained conscripts who have already suffered massive losses in the area in October 2022, symbolizing the inability of the Russian armed forces.

ISW experts also note that increasing failures of the Russian military in various directions will hinder the ability of the occupiers to conduct effective offensive operations.

It will be recalled that the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed

the elite 155th marine infantry brigade near

Vugledar .

The unit had to be supplemented by mobilized personnel.

Former adviser to the Office of the President and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Viktor Andrusiv, explained that while the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding Vugledar,

they are threatening the Russians with a quick strike on Mariupol.
