Eight people have been injured after the Happy Nation bus that was coming from Bukoba to Dar es Salaam overturned while trying to pass a car that was standing in Ruvu area, Vigwaza in Chalinze district in Pwani region, Police Commander, ACP Pius Lutamo has confirmed.

ACP Pius Lutumo said the accident happened on March 2, 2023 at 8:30 pm at Ruvu Village, Vigwaza Ward, Chalinze Bagamoyo Police District.

"The bus with the registration number T 526 DVJ was driven by Vincent Mbasha (39), a resident of Mbezi in Dar es Salaam and the source was avoiding a Scania truck with the number T 299 BYF and a truck with the number T 308 BYF. not putting any sign to indicate that there is a car, then the bus driver avoided it and overturned," said Lutumo.

He said that the bus had 47 passengers where the injured are in Tumbi Coast Regional Referral Hospital for further treatment where their conditions are going well.

He also named the injured as Nuru Mohamed (38), Selimanda Abdala (63), Amina Jumanne (48), Faudhia Ismail (23), Fredina Omary (15), Abtatus Jovin (18), Idat Reman (27) and Aida Suleiman ( 24).

The Head of the Coast Region, Abubakar Kunenge who visited the injured said that drivers should observe road safety rules to avoid unnecessary accidents.

Kunenge said that he received information that the driver wanted to pass the car on the right instead of the left, which is careless, so it is good that they obey the law.

Tumbi Medical Doctor Amani Malima said that they received the injured where they have injured various parts of their bodies and they are doing well with treatment.

Malima said that the patients are undergoing various tests to find out how much the injured are injured.
