An 18-year-old student was caught on Monday transporting migrants. This happened on the Trakia highway near Stara Zagora, the prosecutor's office reports.

According to the prosecutor's office, he transported 57 men - citizens of Afghanistan, who wanted to cross the country in violation of the law - in a van.
The 18-year-old student was in need of financial resources, the state prosecution continued.
He was contacted by a person who offered him to transport migrants from Karnobat to the Bulgarian border with Serbia, for which he would receive BGN 10,000.

With guides they reached the fence of the Turkish-Bulgarian border and during the dark part of the day with the help of folding ladders and accompanied by canal workers crossed the territory of Bulgaria.
They walked for about 3-4 days and on February 27 they reached the village of Krumovo Gradishte, Karnobat municipality, where they were joined by other migrants, so they reached 57 people.

Around 8:00 a.m. at km 196 of the "Trakia" highway, the car was stopped by "Road Police" officers at the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Stara Zagora.

By decree of the supervising prosecutor, the young man was detained for a period of up to 72 hours.
The supervising prosecutor is about to submit a request to the District Court in Stara Zagora to determine a remand measure "detention in custody" against him.
