The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, said today that his country has survived "after the worst winter in its history", marked by massive Russian shelling that left millions of people in the dark, France Press reported, quoted by BTA.

"It was cold and dark, but we were unbreakable," Kuleba noted on Facebook.

"Ukraine has defeated the winter terror," he added.

"Our partners stood by us, helped us. The European Union also won and, contrary to Moscow's taunts, it did not freeze without the sanctioned Russian gas," the minister said.

"We still have a long way to go to the final victory, but we already know how to win," emphasized Kuleba.

Ukrainians urged to conserve electricity as temperatures drop

This winter, Ukraine was subjected to a long series of Russian missile and drone strikes against energy facilities, often leaving residents without electricity, heating and water.

Kiev's Western allies have gradually equipped it with air defense systems, and Russia has reduced the frequency and scale of its attacks.

The fighting is now concentrated in the eastern part of the country, especially around the heavily fortified town of Bakhmut, where, as the Ukrainian army said yesterday, the situation is "extremely tense" amid Russian attacks.
