[Reporter Weng Yuhuang/New Taipei Report] On the afternoon of the 27th, the New Taipei City Environmental Protection and Epidemic Prevention Bureau seized the manufacturer who contracted the renovation project of the Shuangxi Elementary School Stadium in Shuangxi District, and poured the remaining blue paint into the drainage ditch, causing the blue wastewater to flow into the Shuangxi The company has been reported in violation of the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law, and the maximum fine can be 3 million yuan. The Environmental Protection Bureau not only requires the manufacturer to complete the cleanup and take relevant environmental protection measures, but also contact the school to handle it according to the penalty stipulated in the contract.

The Environmental Protection Agency stated that it received a report from the public at 4 pm on the 27th that Shuangxi was dyed blue for unknown reasons. The local Shuangxi District cleaning team assisted in tracing the source, checked the drainage ditch along the line, and confirmed the blue color within 20 minutes. The colored wastewater was discharged from the drainage ditch next to Shuangxi Elementary School. The Environmental Protection Agency stated that due to the clear facts of the pollution, school personnel have notified Chunshun Construction Company, the turnkey contractor of the project, stating that the construction personnel’s behavior has violated Article 30 of the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law, and the Environmental Protection Agency will report and punish according to law.

The Environmental Protection Bureau stated that if a large amount of paint is poured into the river, it will cause a decrease in dissolved oxygen in the water and an increase in chroma, which will also have a negative impact on fish and ecology. People or those engaged in interior decoration and painting have residual paint after projects. Absorb waste cloth or waste paper, and then put them in special garbage bags and deliver them to garbage trucks for removal. Do not discharge them directly into rivers to avoid environmental pollution and ecological catastrophe.

The Environmental Protection Agency emphasized that the case was quickly solved, mainly due to the rapid reporting of the case by the local people, and the rapid arrival of the local cleaning team, which allowed the inspectors to grasp the complete information as soon as the pollution occurred, and arrived at the scene to collect evidence immediately. Elementary schools do not protect their weaknesses, and manufacturers will be required to take responsibility in the future; the Education Bureau will also assist schools in adjudicating according to the contract.

Chun Shun Construction, which contracted the school's paint project, poured the remaining blue paint into the ditch, staining Shuangxi blue, and was reported by the Environmental Protection Bureau for violating the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law.
