Russia is not trying to absorb Belarus and recreate the Soviet Union, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmytro Peskov, in an interview with "Izvestia".

"President Vladimir Putin said that the one who doesn't feel sorry for the Soviet Union has no heart, and the one who wants to recreate the Soviet Union has no head.

It seems to me that this is the most comprehensive explanation of the attitude of those who talk about the reconstruction of the USSR.

It is impossible," Piaskov said.

At the same time, he noted that there are "different forms of integration" that can be applied on the territory of the former USSR, and cited the Union State of Russia and Belarus as an example.

"In our recent history, we had slippages with the implementation of the union agreement, but then national programs were developed, which began to be implemented with high dynamics," said Peyskov and noted that "many positive steps" were taken in this integration process, which Putin said and Lukashenka can tell at the next meeting of the highest "union state".

"But this is in no way a return to the Soviet Union and in no way an attempt to restore it," Piaskov said.

On February 17, Putin and Lukashenka held a meeting in Moscow.

During the negotiations, the topics of integration were also touched upon, which, according to Lukashenka, reached 80% in the sphere of security and defense, as well as the fulfillment of economic tasks by the governments of both countries.

On February 21, the media published a Kremlin-developed document allegedly received from the Putin administration on the gradual incorporation of Belarus into Russia.

The plan allegedly envisages the complete subordination of the Republic of Belarus to the power of the Russian Federation by 2030.
