The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmytro

Peskov

, complained that the presidents of France and Germany had not initiated contacts with Vladimir Putin for a long time.

He said this in an interview with the propaganda publication "Izvestia".

According to Peskov, despite declarations of readiness to "maintain contact", the leaders of France and Germany are not doing so.

"We heard a lot of statements from Scholz and Macron, who said that they will continue to communicate with Putin in order to find some ways and ways out of the situation. However, there have been no initiatives recently. We have heard five or six statements about the readiness of Macron to call Putin and talk , but everyone should know this - there were no requests, orientations or working out the possible terms of such a conversation," he said.

Peskov also said that Putin allegedly remains open to any contacts "that can help Russia achieve its own goals in one way or another."

We will remind, according to The Wall Street Journal, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi for peace talks with Russia

at a tripartite meeting in Paris in February 2023.
