The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office completed the investigation into the suspicion of the fugitive ex-president Viktor Yanukovych and three other people in taking over a 17.5-hectare plot of land in the Kyiv region.

This was reported by the NABU press service.

According to the investigation, in 2007 the fugitive former president Viktor Yanukovych (at the time of the crime, the prime minister) took possession of state property - a plot of land belonging to the forest fund of the Dnipro-Teteriv Forestry on the territory of the Sukholu District Council of the Vyshgorod District of the Kyiv Region.

For this, he initiated the adoption of a number of administrative decisions, according to which lands were illegally transferred from the Cabinet of Ministers to the Kyiv Regional State Administration.

Subsequently, the suspects sought out persons who applied to the Code of Administrative Offenses with applications for the allocation of land plots up to 1 ha in area.

Later, these persons, who turned out to be relatives or relatives of the suspects, appealed to the regional state administration with a request to change the purpose of the land, in order to then transfer these plots to an LLC affiliated with the ex-president.

According to the expert's data, the estimated value of the land plots is more than 22 million hryvnias.

During 2009-2011, a hotel and restaurant complex was built on this land, which was used by the ex-president for personal needs.

NABU and SAP have been investigating these facts since 2019.

From the moment the former president fled to the Russian Federation in 2014 and until November 2019, the case was investigated by the Department of Special Investigations of the General Prosecutor's Office, which informed the individuals about the suspicion in 2015-2016.

The investigation into other persons who are in Ukraine was completed by the GPU and sent to the Shevchenkiv District Court of Kyiv, where the investigation is currently ongoing.

According to the report, as part of the investigation, the detectives initiated the transfer of the hotel and restaurant complex to the ARMA department.

Based on the materials collected during the NABU and SAP investigation, the Ministry of Justice filed an administrative lawsuit for confiscation of the assets of the former president, including the hotel and restaurant complex built on the mentioned plot of land.

The higher anti-corruption court satisfied the claim.

The confiscation mechanism was made possible thanks to the law "On Sanctions", which applies only during martial law to persons who significantly contributed to armed aggression against Ukraine.

We will remind you that during the occupation of Kyiv region, the occupiers burned down the hunting estate of the fugitive president Yanukovych.
