On February 27, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led by the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Romania, Ion-Marcel Colacon.

APA reports that the head of state expressed his satisfaction with the regular nature of the contacts between our countries, noted that the mutual visits of the presidents of the two countries are an important step taken in this direction, and evaluated the visit of the chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament to our country with a large delegation as an indicator of the high level of our relations.

Noting that the bilateral agenda has expanded, President Ilham Aliyev said that the nature of our relations has changed in a qualitatively positive direction.

As a good example of this, the head of state emphasized the deepening of cooperation in the field of energy, including the fact that Azerbaijani gas has already been delivered to the Romanian market, and expressed the hope that greater work will be done in this direction after the implementation of the green energy project.

The President of Azerbaijan said that there is a good potential for the development of relations between our countries in other directions, and expressed his confidence that the visit of Ion-Marchel Çolako to our country will contribute to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, who stated that the delegation he leads includes government representatives as well as his colleagues, said that during the meetings held in Azerbaijan, the issue of expanding relations, as well as strengthening cooperation in international organizations, will be discussed.

Ion-Marcel Çolako noted the special importance of the mutual visits of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Romania in the development of our relations and expressed confidence that our strategic partnership relations will expand further.

The guest said that Azerbaijan has an important role in ensuring stability in the South Caucasus and is a strategic partner of the European Union.

At the meeting, the importance of the four-way Memorandum of Understanding signed between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary and Romania and the project of laying an electric line through the bottom of the Black Sea based on Azerbaijan's renewable energy potential was emphasized.

Romania's support for the development of Azerbaijan's cooperation with the European Union and NATO was also highly appreciated.
