The president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, will visit Cuba on March 2 and 3

, as part of a tour of Central America and the Caribbean, and in response to an invitation issued by the Cuban Olympic Committee (COC).

According to a note from the Cuban Sports Institute (Inder), the German executive will lead a delegation also made up of Chilean

Neven Ilic, president of the Pan American Sports Organization (Panam Sport)

.

During his stay in Havana,

Bach and his companions will talk with COC authorities and with athletes who are preparing for the Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, indicates the organization's note

In addition, the agenda of the visit includes participation in an extraordinary session of the Cuban entity and an approach to the headquarters of that institution in Havana.

Likewise, Bach and his companions will complete activities at the Ciudad Deportiva Coliseum and the Pan-American Stadium in Havana, where the donations of competitive surfaces made by

Panam Sports

will be officially inaugurated .

It would be the third visit by an IOC holder to Cuba in the last 60 years, since his predecessors, the Spanish Juan Antonio Samarach and the Belgian Jacques Rogge, also traveled to this Caribbean nation during their mandates.
