China is considering the possibility of sending not just small arms to Russia, but also artillery and ammunition for it.
Information about the possible supply of weapons was confirmed by a former US official, NBC reports.
Rob Lee, a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, said that "it could be a significant development if China does decide to supply weapons to Russia."
According to him, it is artillery ammunition that can change the course of the war.
At the same time, an expert on Russian policy and a senior consultant at the London-based think tank Chatham House told NBC News that "preliminary estimates and predictions that Russia will inevitably run out of a certain type of ammunition have not yet come true."
However, he also believes that Moscow is also turning to alternative suppliers.
This indicates that the aggressor country is depleting its stockpiles of weapons and ammunition.
The expert added that if China supplies only ammunition for Russia's small arms, then this may not be recorded in Europe.
“But if they provide anything beyond that, including artillery shells, then Europe will be forced to respond.
The possibility that China could send
lethal aid
to Russia in the war against Ukraine was also confirmed by CIA Director Bill Burns.
According to the advisor of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podoliak,
China's
proposals regarding the Russian Federation's war in Ukraine do not contain the idea of a "peace plan", rather they propose freezing the conflict.
