As of February 25, the number of victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria exceeded 50,000, rescuers continue their work.

This is reported by Al Jazeera.

Thus, the number of people killed as a result of the cataclysm in Turkey is 44,218.

And in Syria, 5,914 people died as a result of a natural disaster.

As for the victims, their number in Turkey reached about 20 million, in Syria - 8.8 million, according to UN data.

Almost 240,000 rescue workers, including volunteers, continue to work in 11 earthquake-affected provinces of Turkey. 

Almost 530,000 people were evacuated from the disaster zone.

The Turkish government reported that

173,000 destroyed or significantly damaged buildings

are currently registered .

It is also reported that more than 1.9 million people found temporary shelter in shelters, hotels and public institutions.

At the same time, experts emphasize that the authorities should put safety above speed.

It will be recalled that on February 18, underground shocks occurred again in the Turkish province of Kahramanmaras, devastated by an earthquake.

However, they were not as powerful as those that led to terrible destruction and deaths on February 6.

Already on February 20, two earthquakes happened again in the Turkish province of Hatay, which damaged houses.

At least 6 people died, almost 300 more were injured.

After repeated aftershocks, professor, doctor of geological sciences Naci Görür warned that there is still a danger of repeated earthquakes in Turkey.
