A man from North Carolina (USA) made a mistake while trying to buy a Cash 5 lottery ticket, but this mistake resulted in winning $218,613.

David Lewandowski told North Carolina Education Lottery officials that he tried to buy a lottery ticket, only to realize the next day that the online purchase could not be completed.

"I didn't complete my purchase until the next day. If I had paid attention and done it right the first time, I wouldn't have won," said the winner.

Lewandowski's ticket with his own set of randomly selected numbers won the $218,613 jackpot.

in the draw on Monday.

The winner said that the jackpot in Sunday's drawing was much smaller - only $169,000.

The man shared that he plans to use his winnings for a down payment on an apartment in Puerto Rico.
