Military expert Oleg Zhdanov named Russia's goals in the war against Ukraine for the near future.

Zhdanov told about this in an interview with TSN.ua.

In his opinion, the main goal of Russian President Vladimir Putin today is to capture the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"Putin must give his own society some kind of victory. One of the goals of this war was declared to be

the capture of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions

within the administrative borders, as well as the creation of a buffer zone at the expense of the regions bordering the already mentioned ones. But the main goal is the capture of the administrative borders. Therefore, for To date, this is the only item of those declared by Putin that he is trying to fulfill," the military expert explained.

He drew attention to the fact that Russia had neither succeeded in seizing Kyiv nor annexing Ukraine to itself in a political sense.

So the only thing that remains is the capture of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the administrative borders.

"

Putin does not remove this political task under any circumstances

. He does not want to compromise," Zhdanov noted.

"The forces and means of capture are becoming less and less in the Russian Federation every day, despite the fact (however paradoxical it may sound) that the number of personnel is increasing. By the way, we expect up to 400,000 Russian military personnel on our territory by the end of February. But the number of heavy equipment and weapons is decreasing, because it is not enough even to replenish the losses of those units that are on the front line," the expert described the situation in the Russian army.

It will be recalled that in mid-February, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov stated that Putin has not changed his goal of seizing all of Ukraine, including Kyiv.

However, according to the minister, the enemy does not have the resources for another large-scale offensive.

Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Ukraine, said the day before that the occupiers have a strategic task - to enter the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions by March 31.

The enemy is now showing its maximum, but will not be able to achieve the goal.
