The relations between Russia and the European Union continue to fall into an abyss, they practically no longer exist, Russian permanent representative to the UN Vasyl Nebenzya said today at a meeting of the Security Council of the world organization, dedicated to the cooperation between the UN and the EU, BTA reported.

"The last time the issues of cooperation between the UN and the EU were discussed in the Security Council in June 2022, we said that thanks to the efforts of Brussels, relations between the EU and Russia had reached the bottom. As it turned out, there is an abyss below this bottom , in which not only our relations, which in fact no longer exist, continue to fall, but also a united Europe itself," he said.

According to Nebenzya, Russia sees that in the European capitals and institutions there are activities on how best to dismember and destroy his country by arming Ukraine.

But by acting like this, the EU and other Western countries are bringing the world closer to a suicidal conflict.

He added that the EU's statements about good neighborliness and partnership with Russia turned out to be nothing more than a lie to cover up preparations for a confrontation with Moscow on the part of Kiev.

Nebenzia pointed out that as a result of the interruption of Russian gas supplies to Western Europe, the EU is becoming addicted to "hard drugs" - that is, to expensive American liquefied natural gas - against the backdrop of double-digit inflation.

"Rejoicing to be freed from the 'Russian gas needle', the EU has become addicted to the 'hard drug' - expensive American liquefied natural gas."
