The Russian

occupation army is preparing to attempt a new attack on Vugledar in the Donetsk region, where it has already suffered heavy losses, but there are not enough resources to break through the enemy.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain on Twitter.

There they said that the occupiers fired heavily at Vugledar again.

Therefore, there is

a possibility that Russia is preparing for another offensive in the area,

despite the failed attacks in early February and late 2022, which caused serious losses to its army.

According to intelligence, the military leadership of the Russian Federation appointed Russian colonel-general Rustam Muradov to be in charge of the Ugledar operation.

The Russian general is likely to be under intense pressure after heavy criticism from the Russian community following previous setbacks.

"Russia's Eastern Group of Forces is likely still responsible for Operation Ugledar. Its commander, Colonel General Rustam Muradov, is likely to be under intense pressure to improve after heavy criticism from the Russian nationalist community following previous failures. However, it is unlikely Muradov has a striking force capable of making a breakthrough," the report says.

In addition, the British Ministry of Defense added that

heavy fighting has been going on in the Bakhmut area for the past 48 hours.

There, Ukrainian forces are keeping supply routes open to the west despite "Russia's creeping encirclement over the past six weeks."

It will be recalled that on February 23, the General Staff of the Armed Forces reported that some units of the Russian occupiers began to refuse to participate in offensive actions after the failure of the counteroffensive near Vugledar.

According to ISW,

probably, Russian troops

are trying to increase the pace of offensive operations on the Kupyansk-Lyman line

.

As reported, during February 22, Ukrainian defenders

eliminated another 790 occupiers and destroyed 16 enemy tanks.
