Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of

Ukraine

, 8,006 Ukrainian civilians have died, including 487 children.

13,287 residents were injured, including 954 children.

This is stated in a new report of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The largest number of dead and wounded were in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

In the regions from February 24, 2022 to February 15, 2023, 4,295 people died, 7,327 people were injured.

The authors of the report emphasize that the real number of cases of death or injury of civilians is much higher.

After all, many reports about alleged cases of death or injury of civilians from certain cities and regions have still not been confirmed.

In particular, we are talking about Mariupol, Lysychansk, Popasna and Severodonetsk.

The largest number of deaths in almost a year was recorded in March last year.

At that time, 3,918 Ukrainian civilians were killed and 2,967 people were wounded.

By the way, since the beginning of 2023, the UN recorded the deaths of 263 people in Ukraine, and 759 people were injured.

The UN considers the use of explosive weapons with a large impact zone to be the cause of most of the recorded cases of death or injury of civilians.

In particular, shelling from heavy artillery and rocket salvo systems, as well as missile and airstrikes.

According to the report, 6,585 people were killed and 12,635 were injured from this type of weapons in Ukraine.

We will remind,

the British intelligence named the causes of large casualties among the civilian population of Ukraine

.

It is emphasized that the Russian army indiscriminately uses artillery and other fire systems in the war with Ukraine.

In particular, this is the cause of high casualties among the civilian population, as well as significant damage to medical and educational institutions.
