Like last year, most of the nominees publicly revealed so far are mostly associated with the Russia-Ukraine war or are opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The nominees include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, among others.

Other nominees include Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, who is serving time in prison, and Russian journalist and political activist Vladimir Kara-Murza, who is also behind bars.

It is believed that this year's nominees include Greta Thunberg, a Swedish environmental girl, and Ugandan environmentalist Vanessa Nakate, who also cares about climate issues.

In addition, it is believed that Chinese and Hong Kong democrats or groups have also been nominated, including the former vice chairman of the Hong Kong Alliance, Zou Xingtong, and the Uyghur Tribunal, an organization that specializes in investigating the plight of Uyghurs in China.
