Recently, a lot of information has appeared on the Internet about the fact that China is allegedly getting closer to Russia and is approaching the transfer of long-range military aid to the Russian Federation.

Will Beijing join the war on Putin's side, said political scientist and director of the "Penta" Political Research Center Volodymyr Fesenko in an interview with TSN.ua.

In his opinion, China's position and interests are contradictory in this context.

Economically, China is not interested in expanding the scope of this war.

"I think that China is not interested in a military confrontation with the West. First, it is not quite ready for such a confrontation, and secondly, it will hit China's economic positions. China has already become a world factory precisely because of trade with the West and Europeans. The pace has become much slower, but still economically, China is dependent on these markets. If they themselves break these relations, it will lead to negative economic consequences for China. Even the quarantine has caused great problems, and there is also war. That is why China uses peace-making rhetoric , the thesis of its neutrality in this war, but there is cooperation with Russia," the expert notes.

At the same time, Fesenko drew attention to the other side of China's interests - political, ideological and even trade confrontation with the United States.

"There is a risk zone - Taiwan, then, given the context of this confrontation, it is not beneficial for China to completely defeat Russia. A certain weakening - yes, China uses it. If earlier China and Russia were conditionally equal partners, because the Russians have a much greater nuclear potential, but China is more powerful economically. Now the further, the more Russia becomes dependent on China and it takes advantage of this. With this, it buys gas, oil, and other natural resources of Russia at a great discount. But still surrender Russia so that it loses in this war and in confrontation with the USA is not beneficial to China. Therefore, China is now balancing. It was in partnership with Russia, and there was military cooperation between them. But China did not officially support the seizure of Crimea, it did not recognize the separatist republics, it does not recognize the annexation of Ukrainian territories. China does not vote together with Russia," says the political scientist.

Blinken's statement at the Munich conference warning China that it may provide Russia with lethal weapons has now appeared.

Such information appeared and the United States warned China.

This is not the kind of situation that will lead to the end of war.

The thesis about stopping the supply of weapons will rather play in favor of Russia and against us," the expert said.

According to Fesenko, China will maintain cooperation with Russia, but if it will help, it will do so informally and unofficially.

"A famous Chinese proverb says: 'Do not interfere in events, wait for the corpses of your enemies to float past you.'" This is another argument for prolonging the war, why it is not profitable for the West. In fact, Russia may lose from this, and China will win. By the way, this is also felt in Munich. Currently, the main danger for international relations, for Europe, is Russian aggression and imperial ambitions. But they constantly make an amendment about China. That is why this China-Russia connection exists and is constantly being worked on in the West. We also need make an amendment, but China will not directly support Russia," concluded the Ukrainian political scientist.

Earlier, the USA, citing its own intelligence, warned that Beijing was seriously approaching the limit of

providing lethal military aid to Moscow

.

The permanent representative of the US to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said that China would cross a "red line" if it dared to provide weapons to the Russian Federation.

This opinion was supported by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell

In turn, China reacted sharply to the US call not to supply weapons to the Russian Federation, saying that the United States "does not have the right to lecture."

Meanwhile, the head of the Foreign Ministry of the People's Republic of China arrived on a visit to Moscow, which worried the West and Ukraine even more.

According to the WSJ, he will negotiate a meeting between Putin and Xi Jinping, which may take place in the coming months.

Beijing also promised to present its project for the settlement of the war in Ukraine.

TSN.ua collected details and opinions of experts regarding China's "peace plan".
