[Reporter Wu Zhengting/Kinmen Report] An 80-year-old Taiwanese businessman surnamed Zhang suffered from serious illnesses such as heart disease and urgently needed to return to Taiwan for treatment. Originally from Kinmen, under the premise of humanity, we sent personnel to assist in a "case-by-case" manner. Today, the Taiwanese businessman surnamed Zhang was successfully brought back to Kinmen, and it is scheduled to be sent to Taiwan for further treatment tomorrow.

Chen Zhongfei, director-general of the Kinmen Red Cross Society, said that an 80-year-old Taiwanese businessman surnamed Zhang had been doing business in Xiamen, China for more than 20 years. On January 26, he was admitted to the Cardiovascular Hospital Affiliated to Xiamen University for treatment due to physical discomfort. The doctor diagnosed him with coronary artery disease. Atherosclerotic heart disease and many other diseases, the family members sought help from the Kinmen Red Cross Society through channels in early February.

Chen Zhongfei said that in this case, with the assistance of the County Tourism Office and the MAC, it was discovered that the wife of Yang, a Taiwanese businessman surnamed Zhang, who was originally from Kaohsiung City, was moved out of her household registration because she had been out of the country for more than 2 years. "It meets the qualifications for personnel exchanges of the small three links, and the Taiwanese businessman surnamed Zhang is the spouse of Yang, and also meets the requirements of "Kinmen residents or their non-Kinmen spouses and direct blood relatives" and is applicable to the small three links."

Chen Zhongfei said that the Taiwanese businessman surnamed Zhang was accompanied by four rescue-trained Red Cross personnel, including Lin Zaiqiu, the vice president of the Kinmen Red Cross Society. He was sent by ambulance to Jinmen Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and is expected to fly to Taipei tomorrow for further treatment by a special medical plane.

Chen Zhongfei said that this case is the first case of humanitarian assistance after three years of the interruption of the mini-three links. Thanks to the assistance of the Mainland Affairs Council, Kinmen County Government and Xiamen, China, a Taiwanese businessman surnamed Zhang was able to follow the mini-three links in a short period of time. Rescue back to Taiwan for treatment.

At present, there are still many similar cases in China, most of which are due to the restriction of the separation of status, and the small three-way link cannot be returned to Taiwan for medical treatment in time. I hope that the small three-way link will be fully opened as soon as possible, so that all non-Kinmen citizens in China can also get immediate help. Reduce the occurrence of regrets.
