If we have a regular government in April, which is pro-Western and mostly reformist, it could bring Bulgaria into the Eurozone.

First he must introduce another kind of budget.

If you ask me, it should have a budget surplus or at least no deficit.

If Bulgaria brings in a Budget without a deficit and adopts all the necessary laws in April - May, and above all, if it shows enormous political will, as Croatia has shown, Western Europe can say that our country is ready to enter (the Eurozone) and make some compromise with inflation, if at all.

However, if there is no political will, it will be the same as it has been since 2005.

Since 2005, there have been only a few glimpses of entry into the Eurozone.

This is what Nikolay Vassilev, former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Economy, told BNR.

According to Vasilev, it is not the job of the caretaker government to submit the 2023 Budget to the new parliament:

"The state can live very well with last year's budget if there is no regular cabinet. The problem is the lack of a regular government, not that the official cabinet will contribute anything".

Experts comment: Will we adopt the euro in 2024 or will a new delay to 2026 be necessary?

According to him, inflation will decrease and "it is very possible that it will remain a mathematical problem until the middle of the year":

"If this is the only problem, then Bulgaria could enter the Eurozone. However, if the problem is huge budget deficits, as in recent years, and a lack of any political will, no matter what politicians from different parties say, everything , what we are talking about is of no importance. In the last two years, we have been governed by four caretaker governments and one regular one, who heartily do not want Bulgaria to enter the Eurozone and do nothing about it."

In the show "12+3" Nikolay Vasilev presented his book "NEXT.BG Book for reformers, hawks and storks".

The former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy also stated that he had no plans to return to politics.
