The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported a magnitude 5 earthquake in northern Japan.

Seismologists add that the epicenter of the disaster was located 9 km from the city of Obihiro, whose population is about 173 thousand people, and the focus was at a depth of 112 km.

There were no reports of damage or casualties, and no tsunami threat was reported.
