The United States conducted separate bilateral air exercises with South Korea and Japan today, including strategic bombers, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The drills took place a day after North Korea launched a Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile. 

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said that during today's maneuvers, South Korean F-35A, F-15K and American F-16 fighter jets escorted American B-1B bombers.

In separate exercises, Japanese F-15 fighter jets flew over the Sea of ​​Japan alongside US Air Force B-1 bombers and F-16 fighter jets.

"The joint exercises confirm the strong will of the militaries of Japan and the United States to respond to any situation and further strengthen their deterrence and response capabilities," Japan's defense ministry said in a statement.
