A representative of an animal protection organization contacted the law enforcement officers and informed about the death of

a dog

in the village of Buryakivtsi, Pulinsk community.

All the circumstances of the deadly abuse of the animal were filmed by teenagers who live nearby.

This was reported by the press service of the National Security Service of Ukraine in Zhytomyr region.

"During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that a 52-year-old resident of a village near his house had brutally beaten and then hung a neighbor's dog from a tree branch. The animal's corpse with a noose around its neck was discovered by concerned villagers. Experts determined that the cause of its death was asphyxiation by strangulation combined with paralysis of the nervous system and the respiratory center. The man admitted his guilt in what he had done and said that the neighbor asked him to take the animal out of the village because it was interfering with her peaceful life. All subsequent actions were solely his initiative," the department said in a statement.

The investigators informed the man that he was suspected of having committed a criminal offense under Part 3 of Art.

299 (Cruel treatment of an animal) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

After conducting all procedural actions, the indictment was sent to the court in agreement with the Korostysh District Prosecutor's Office.

For the committed act, the accused faces imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.
