Lakhs of diyas lit in Ujjain on Mahashivratri

Bhopal:

On the occasion of Mahashivaratri, 18.82 lakh diyas were lit in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.

With this, Ujjain took the record of lighting the maximum number of diyas in a day, leaving behind Ayodhya.

In 2022, 15.76 lakh diyas were lit in Ayodhya city of Uttar Pradesh on Diwali.

On the other hand, 11,71,078 lamps were lit in Ujjain on Mahashivratri last year.

Preparations were being made for Mahashivratri in Ujjain many days in advance.

This program was named Shiv Jyoti Arpanam by the government.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself was present to participate in the Deepotsav programme.

Earlier last week, CM himself had held a review meeting.

Officials had told after the meeting that under the Shiv Jyoti Arpanam program in Ujjain, earthen lamps will be lit at temples, commercial places, houses, along the banks of the Kshipra river and at important intersections and places in the city.

Let us inform that the program organized in Ujjain was based on the principle of 'Zero Waste' keeping in mind the environment.

Arrangements were made for the participation of more than 20,000 volunteers in this program. 

Regarding the program, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted that the splendor and beauty of Ujjayini illuminated by the light of innumerable rays is indescribable.
