Shiv Sena's Uddhav Thackeray faction has said that it will challenge the decision of the Election Commission in the court.

New Delhi :

Uddhav Thackeray, disappointed with the decision of the Election Commission regarding the authority on 'Shiv Sena' in Maharashtra, is now preparing to go to the Supreme Court.

He also gave a statement regarding this on Saturday.

Uddhav Thackeray said that the Election Commission is a slave of PM Modi.

Therefore, we will go to the Supreme Court against this decision of the commission.

After this announcement by Uddhav Thackeray, now news is coming that the Eknath Shinde group has filed a caveat in the Supreme Court after the decision of the Election Commission.

An appeal has been made to the court through a caveat that if the Uddhav group challenges the decision of the Election Commission, then the court should not pass any order by conducting an ex-parte hearing, its side should also be heard.

Earlier, Sanjay Raut of the Uddhav faction said that there was a time when idols were stolen from the temple, now people are stealing the father.

Today when Uddhav gave his speech, people were remembering Balasaheb.

He said that Shiv Sena will retaliate and come back to power again.

Earlier, Uddhav Thackeray targeted Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and said that the party's election symbol has been "stolen" and the "thief" needs to be taught a lesson.

Uddhav Thackeray addressed a large crowd.

Party workers staged a show of strength outside Matoshree, the home of the Thackeray family.

In a major blow to Uddhav Thackeray, the Election Commission on Friday handed over to Eknath Shide the identity of the party that his father had founded in 1966.

Shinde had overturned Uddhav Thackeray's government about eight months ago.

Uddhav Thackeray's team urged the Election Commission to wait for the Supreme Court's decision in the matter.

He has said that he will challenge the decision in the apex court.

The hearing of the case of tussle between the two factions of Shiv Sena over the authority over the party is going on in the Supreme Court.

Eknath Shinde called the Election Commission's decision a "victory for democracy" and welcomed the move.

Protesting against Uddhav Thackeray calling him a "traitor", he said he needed to "introspect".

Eknath Shinde rebelled in the party in June 2022.

They took more than 40 Shiv Sena MLAs along with them with the help of BJP.

The BJP along with Eknath Shinde finally toppled Uddhav Thackeray's government.

Thackeray's government also included two ideologically different allies, the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party.

A long battle went on to control the Shiv Sena.

The Election Commission, in a 78-page order, said Shinde had the support of MLAs in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections with the party securing 76 per cent of the winning votes.

The Election Commission said that the Uddhav Thackeray faction can keep the name of the party 'Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray' and the election symbol given last year 'Dhadakti Mashal'.
