[Instant News/Comprehensive Report] Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs recently accepted an interview with Japanese media "NHK" and publicly called for the importance of military aid to Ukraine. At present, we cannot expect to follow diplomatic channels to resolve Russia's military incursions, because "even if If an armistice agreement is reached, Russia will not abide by the agreement."

Linkeviches was interviewed by NHK in Riga, the capital of Latvia on the 15th. He told reporters that although the international supply of Ukrainian weapons and related military equipment, Kiev still needs tanks and armored vehicles, as well as ammunition.

Even though Russia may not be able to produce enough modern weapons, it still maintains many Soviet-era weapons stocks. "Simple, outdated weapons can kill a lot of people."

Linkevichs pointed out that the outside world believes that the two countries should seek a diplomatic solution to the matter, or use diplomatic means to mediate; however, assuming that Ukraine and Russia reach an armistice agreement, "Russia will not perform the agreement."

The Russians are always pushing the limits, and when they feel they are strong enough, they start fighting again.

Currently, Latvia's military aid to Ukraine accounts for 1% of the country's total GDP.

Linkeviches expressed the hope that Latvia could increase defense spending to 3 percent of total GDP by 2027.
